ACT WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE
MATCHDAY 11

In what was a curtailed round of Women’s Premier League action the top two, Belconnen United and Gungahlin United, both claimed wins to consolidate their positions on the table, increasing the lead over the third Canberra FC who saw their match with the CU Academy team postponed, to be rescheduled later in the season.

On Saturday evening Belconnen United cruised to a 4-0 win over Tuggeranong United at McKellar Park to move further clear at the top of the table. Caitlin Munoz gave the Blue Devils the early lead and the hosts had the match well and truly under their spell by the 23rd minute as further goals from Cara Cutaia and Aoife Colvill put them 3-0 ahead, With the destination of the points seemingly certain to stay at McKellar Park, Madelyn Whittall rounded off the scoring in the 64th minute, her sixth goal of the season.

On Sunday Gungahlin United cut the lead back to seven points after squeezing past Woden-Weston FC at Gungahlin Enclosed. A thirteenth goal of the season for Brittany Palombi, added to by a goal from Natalie De Marco, ensured that the goal netted by Cassandra Watson for Woden-Weston FC was, in fact, nothing more than a consolation. The Gunners though were pushed all the way to claim the crucial points.
